Why does Thunderbird open blank pages from rss feed emails

I'm subscribed to a variety of rss feeds, and most of them (webcomics and such) provide webpages that have a Twitter link for the creator. In almost every case where there's a Twitter feed embedded into the page, Thunderbird automatically opens a link in my browser. (The page is always blank and the URL is always https://platform.twitter.com/jot.html.) Recently, it has been opening multiple tabs of the same blank page, especially if I scroll down further in the email. How can I make it stop automatically opening these links? Thanks in advance.

it is either unfortunate or fortunate. depending on your point of view. Thunderbird does not execute the web bug script that goes with the Jot.html image that is related to the web page displaying the blue twitter T. The unfortunate part I think is that the browser window opens.

There is an open bug where a fix is being looked at for the browser opening. I have not look in there for a while now. But it is an open bug and last I looked actively being pursued.

But what you describe should not affect the display of the underlying HTML page in the RSS feed. At least I see the page and read it's content.

I'm glad to see it's a bug and not something I missed! The rest of the page does indeed serve perfectly fine, it's just tedious to have to repeatedly close the jot.html page while I'm trying to catch up on my rss feeds.

Thank you!

Must be on the back burner somewhere. It is very aggravating. There's also another one that pops up its a gif file with a single pixel dot.
