Firefox keeps loaing 64 bit
Why is it when I go to update Firefox keeps loading 64 bit when I have 32 bit running. My computer is 64 bit but I have 32 bit Firefox browser. I uninstall Firefox then reboot. Go to reinstall Firefox and then it loads 64 bit. uninstall and reload 55.01. Then I lose all my bookmarks and it will not let me bookmark anything at all. Even if I have the bookmark file it will not let me install the bookmarks. Then it becomes very slow opening web pages and the hard drive light is going crazy. I have to find every Mozillian file even in roaming.. EVERY MOZILLA FIREFOX FILE HAS TO BE REMOVED THEN REBOOT. I think there are 3 or 4 files that have to be removed. THEN I HAVE TO USE THE OLD 54.01 FILE. no virus no malware all checks out OK.

Mozilla recently made 64-bit the default for Firefox so if you have Windows 7 SP1 or higher and more than 2GB of RAM, you were automatically converted to 64-bit Firefox.
If you want to remain on 32-bit (I don't recommend this as you have over 20GB of RAM so you will not be hurting but experiencing some favorable performance), you can download the 32-bit installer from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Well it does not work on my computer. It freezes and will not work at all
Try a complete uninstall of the software and reinstall it. I have seen users having troubles with auto defaulting. Make sure you reset your browser to default settings and reset it up. It can be a nuisance occasionally.
I have done all these steps already. It does not work. It still locks up and when you go to open the browsers the HDD goes crazy and it takes about 45 seconds to open the browser. After it opens then when you try to click on a web page it takes another 30 seconds to open, then the HDD is going crazy and every thing freezes.
Have you tried defragmenting the HDD? Are you sure it is not full? You might have a hardware malfunction here. I guess you could try fully uninstalling the current version of Firefox and try forcing 32-bit version.
I have done a HDD check and yes I have done a defrag I have done a force install of 32 bit but only 54.01 will only work 55.01 will not
Hmm, shouldn't cause issues. Have you tried dev versions of Firefox? Not sure if they have 32bit versions in the first place. Btw, maybe you have a lot of running programs that clog up the CPU? Your RAM doesn't appear to be an issue, and overall it seems like a solid rig and should easily run 64bit.
Speaking of 64bit, do other browsers work for you? IE, Chrome maybe Opera?
No programs running. I have no problems running 32 bit only 68 processes running. hdd running quiet with the 32 bit.
Well honestly, I tried all of the conventional options, let's hope people who know Firefox better can help you with this.
Some additional tips you could try, but these are long shots. You could try booting Windows safe mode and doing all of the actions there.
Checking registries and forcing 32-bit through there.
