Firefox using up too much CPU resources
I have done ALL of the troubleshooting and have my settings at appropriate settings. Firefox is still using way too much RAM and memory. I only have TWO tabs open and it is over 2000 mbs!! Please help me with this. I have run everything possible including safe mode, not running any addons or extension, etc etc. I have tried ALL of the troubleshooting you recommend AND have had my own tech support run through some things. Nothing wrong with my pc. Her suggestion was to switch to another browser. I really like FF, but this has been going on for the past few weeks, actually, since the last update. Despite one of your troubleshooting suggestions is to make sure FF is up to date. That is when this problem started!

Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

I did say that I did ALL the troubleshooting, so that includes running it in safe mode. Please do not give me the regular troubleshooting. I already performed ALL of them
Firefox safe And the Computer in Safe Mode?
Yes. And of course it runs faster..most programs aren't running when in safe mode. so I am not sure what you are trying to do here with that advice. i already ran FF in safe mode and it didn't make a bit of difference. I do suspect it's my ISP
If it's your connection, have your ISP test your service.
If there in no problem in Computer Safe Mode, then something on your system may be the problem.
As a test, disable your protection programs. Try Firefox on a Safe site like Mozilla.org
Ok. ISP tested it and no problem. In safe mode many programs are NOT running and my tech support has checked everythign out on my pc. MY PC is FINE> I have disabled my security software. STill a problem, and it is showing on tasks that FIREFOX is using up over 2K mbs!! Firefox issue since ALL others have been eliminated. This is since the last update of FF.
I called for more help.
Looks like FF updated the browser and it is somewhat better.
No, it isn't. It's worse! Also, I just read a post from 2 days ago that FF still using outdated certificate checking causing this problem among many users! However, my understanding is that FF will be launching a new beta version without this DUE TO PERFORMANCE CONCERNS! Apparently, you don't know what your own company is doing.
Are you using Multiprocess (e10s) ?
You can check whether you have this feature turned on as follows : • '3-bar' menu button => ' ? ' button => Troubleshooting Information • type 'about:support ' (without the commas) in the address bar and press Enter/Return In the first table on the page, check the row for 'Multiprocess Windows' and see whether the number on the left side of the fraction is greater than zero. If so, you are using e10s - otherwise it should read : 0/1 (Disabled).
If you are using e10s: You could turn it off as follows : Type in the address bar about:config (promise to be careful, if asked) Type and search for the preferences : browser.tabs.remote.autostart and set it's value to false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 and set it's value to false
Note: the exact name of the preference may vary, but it will start with browser.tabs.remote.autostart
It was set to 0/1 (Disabled)
Found this - it's a lot to take in, but maybe the answer to your problem (fingers crossed) :

Not sure yet, but have forwarded information and link to my personal tech support. Thank you.
You can check the about:memory page to see what takes up that much memory. This page also has a button to free used memory.
How many physical memory does your computer has?
How much physical memory does Firefox use?
Note that Firefox can reserve a lot of virtual memory, but may not actually use it.
It appears to be 2 applications of Dell Chipset driver, and I no longer have a Dell pc. My PC has 8mb and is barely using it. In system it says "Using Where do I find quickly the physical memory for FF? In systems it says my pc is using 135 out of 755 GB.
Task manager says FF is using somewhat over 2K Mb.
