I have Firefox 48.0.2. Firefox says I should get Firefox 45 instead?
Firefox says my Flash Player is not up to date. In checking around, I see that Firefox won't be supported for my OS 10.8.5 next year. Firefox also says I should download Firefox 45. I have Firefox 48.0.2.
1. Why should I go backwards in my Firefox browser? 2. Will my existing Flash Player (currently 23.0.0.185) be sufficient for Firefox 45 to work successfully? 3. I may try to download the latest Flash Player (23.0.0.207) even though it specifically is for OS 10.9 or later. Will that work with Firefox 45? Should I stick with Firefox 48.0.2 instead?
I prefer not to upgrade to OS 10.9 because it will make some software I use unusable .
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Firefox 49.0 and later requires OSX 10.9 and newer now as OSX 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 is not supported.
In order to have a Firefox with security updates you can use Firefox 45 ESR as it will be supported for eight updates until 45.8.0esr when 53.0 is released unless Mozilla extends support for 45 ESR over the usual eight updates for ESR version.
Firefox 45.4.0 esr came out when 49.0 was released. The Firefox 48 release is EOL and not supported with security fixes and it will get more vulnerable over time.
