Hi momswift, I think Google's reference to privacy settings is too general to identify a particular suggested change.

Could you try deleting your saved cookies for google.com:

While viewing a page on the site (can be a search results page, doesn't need to be email), try either:

• right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
• (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
• click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page and logging into email again. Does that help?

Thank you for your suggestions. I followed your instructions and, although I didn't solve my problem, I DID get some information. On my security page (for Mozilla) it said that ighome.com was not properly protected/encrypted and that others would be able to see my content while sending/receiving. Hmmmm. Since I've always used Mozilla, I'm trying to understand what has changed as I am able to bring up my gmail account if I use IE or Chrome. Any ideas? For the time being I'm forced to use another browser to see my email but otherwise continue to use Mozilla for everything else. All my settings for cookies, etc., are identical on all my browsers but I much prefer Mozilla. It's head-scratching time!

Next time you see the error message, could you copy/paste it into a reply? The exact wording makes it easier to run Google searches for known causes.

Also, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
• Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

This is what I get when I attempt to log into gmail on Mozilla. When I rt. click and go to the security screen (sorry, can't capture the popup for pasting. Disappears as soon as I click on it) : "Website: www.ighome.com Owner: This website does not supply ownership information Verified by: Not specified . . . Technical Details: The website www.ighome.com does not support encryption for the page you are viewing. Information sent over the internet without encryption can be seen by other people while it is in transit." Am I really this dumb?

Have you modified any settings related to DOM Storage/Local Storage? Some sites detect the inability to use local storage as a block on cookies. You can check here:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste storag and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the dom.storage.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true

Otherwise, as long as you are allowing cookies, the message doesn't make sense to me.

ighome is a completely different website from Gmail. Why would that come up?? Are you sure you are accessing Gmail using a Google address, for example:

https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox

If you entered your Google login on a different site, I suggest changing your password once you are able to log in safely.
