I am currently enrolled in Primavera Online High School and it won't let me view certain like flash cards online because it says that a plug in is needed to display the content.

Hi NikkiB389, the most commonly used plugin on the web is Adobe's Flash player plugin. If you have never installed that, you can get it from the following page:

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Please uncheck any unwanted extras in the center column.

If you have problems with that installer, a "full" or "offline" installer is available on the following page (either EXE or MSI will work):

https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

To see what plugins you have installed, you can check Firefox's Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

Then, in the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, the enabled plugins are listed first, then disabled plugins toward the bottom. You usually have three permissions options:

  • "Always Activate" = let all sites use this plugin automatically
  • "Ask to Activate" = let me decide whether a site can use this plugin
  • "Never Activate" = hide this plugin from sites so they can't use it

When a page is invoking a plugin, you usually will see a notification icon in the address bar and if the site requires permission, usually (but not always) one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

The plugin notification icon in the address bar typically looks like a small, dark gray Lego block. When the page wants to use a blocked plugin, the icon turns red to alert you to the concern.

Some pages use plugins only for tracking or playing ads, so if you don't see an immediate need for it, feel free to ignore the notification! It will just sit there in case you want to use it later.
