Using Firefox, my Outlook Onedrive will not remain open, but goes white and starts loading again, repeating this over and over.

Yesterday, I tried to open my OneDrive page, through my Outlook email account. It had been several weeks since I had and I now find that OneDrive will not finish loading on my Dell desktop (Windows 7 Home). The files begin to appear, and the initial pics on each file start appearing, then the page goes white and it starts again. This continues indefinitely. This problem is not happening on the Macbook Pro laptop (Firefox browser as well) that I use for work however. And, OneDrive loads and operates normally using Internet Explorer as a browser, so it seems the issue lies with Firefox on this Dell desktop. Can anyone offer suggestions on how to get OneDrive to stay open? Thanks, Gary Brantley.

If you haven't already, could you try these general troubleshooting steps:

Cache and Cookies

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site*, try either:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

* If you can't open any pages on live.com, try opening the cookie dialog on a different site, and change the address at the top of the dialog to live.com.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Firefox Safe Mode

If the above doesn't help, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Well, clearing the cache didn't help.

But, starting in safe mode with add-ons disabled did the trick. OneDrive opened and operated as it should. Now, which add-on caused the problem? None were recently added but the problem just cropped up recently. Thanks for the suggestion sir!

Do I disable them one by one until the issue is resolved?

It's fairly easy for NoScript, because the button will tell you whether it is blocking anything on the site. Well... if the menu works in a state of constant reloading, I don't think I've experienced that before.

After I disabled NoScript, and closed and restarted the browser, I opened OneDrive and it operated just as it should. All the files there appeared and most refreshingly, did not disappear and then start loading again as it had been doing. The NoScript program and OneDrive have peacefully coexisted for some time; it was odd that it became a problem now. Thanks again, Gary
