Attachments no longer open, says C:\Users/LAMPEL/AppData\Local\Temp\fax120961455-1.pdf is not a valid Win32 application.
My Thunderbird is linked to my gmail account. In gmail, the files open. The problem is with all kinds of files--pdf, Word, etc. If I right click to save the file to a document, and then try to open the document, it still does not open. Butif I right click on that and have it open as a word or pdf file, then it does open. I've never had this problem before, going back years.

Thunderbird needs a helper application to open certain attachments. In case of PDFs this could be Adobe Reader or any other PDF reader. You'll need to verify in your Thunderbird settings that the correct helper application has been assigned to PDF documents. The same basically goes for .doc attachments, except that the helper application typically would be Microsoft Word.

I really don't know what you're talking about.
To locate your profile folder: At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Folder > Open Folder.
