receive message:the current operation in thunderbird did not succeed when trying to delete emails
when trying to delete some emails a message came up:- The current operation in Thunderbird did not succeed. The mail server for account [email protected] responded[TRYCREATE] doesn't exist(Gmail)/bin. I tried the suggestion in help for not being able to delete emails but I either did it wrong or it didn't work. Any suggestions please.

Thank you, Toad-Hall, I found the subscription folder and everything was ticked, but when I went to tools>account settings wasn't there, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Unfortunately I am not computer literate and find it hard to grasp certain things, when I left school they had just gone passed the abacus. I appreciate your time and assistance but trying to find Tools>Account settings>Server Settings , I think I must be looking in the wrong place. The only place I found Tools was by clicking on the three bars in the top right hand corner of Thunderbird, and the account settings it only had Junk settings not a Trash folder. As I said I am not computer literate, again thanks for trying.

re :The mail server for account [email protected] responded[TRYCREATE] doesn't exist(Gmail)/bin.
Sounds like you have not selected the correct folder in your account settings.
In your imap virginmedia.com mail account, make sure you have actually subscribed to see the webmail Trash folder. right click on the mail account name in Folder Pane to see a list of folders you can subscribe to see.
Then in account settings select that new webmail Trash folder. stop subscribing to see the old gmail trash bin.
'Tools' > 'Account settings' > 'Server Settings' when I delete a message: Select: 'move it to this folder' : select the webmail Trash click on OK

Hi Toad-Hall, when I checked my emails this morning,I automatically deleted the first one I read and lo and behold it stayed deleted,I then proceeded to delete all the others and they stayed deleted also. So it appears that the problem resolved itself or the computer needed a re-start to set things in motion. What ever the reason thank you again for your assistance. Jubby77
