After 40.0.2 update, typing in web address obscured w/ partial spacial blocks
Typing characters of a web address produces blocked visibility of what is being typed with an individual blocking per letter--the more letters typed the more the blocking looks like a deteriorated etch-a-sketch block that changes size/form that is reduced. Once all characters of the web address are typed, the characters become visible/legible. Strange problem! Anyone know what it is or how to fix it?

just for your info: this issue might "resolve" itself now within the next hours, as mozilla is putting the affected drivers on a blocklist now, so they can no longer cause that problem.

hi Susanoz, could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...
To expand my description, it is as if what is typed is partially highlighted and as letters are typed, the cursor moves forward showing partial letters and partial highlighting that appears to be dark.
Ok, here is the cut/paste requested (and thanks):

thank you - that's likely an issue with hardware acceleration. please try updating your graphics driver (this should be the right link for your configuration): https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24971/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-64-bit
Not sure I know how to do that--time for a trip to my son-in-laws place for assistance. Thanks

Thank you Phillipp... It is not longer malfunctioning.
