Windows 7 - How do I find my forgotten password (FF 34.0.5)?

About two/three days ago, FF all of a sudden asked for my password when I went to check my mail - it had never done that previously. Since that time, I have not been able to access FF.

If there a way to recover the password? If not, how do I create a new account so that I can access my mail WITHOUT losing what I currently have (folder, mail, etc.)?

Hi Dave, Please try to provide more information about what you are doing including when you need to enter a password.. I am having difficulty understanding your situation.

Unless you have some other third party software you will not need a password to use programs such as Firefox. You may need a password to use your Windows account. You will almost certainly need a password to use your Webmail, but will need to contact your Webmail provider to sort out any problems with that.

John,

All I was doing was going into my email account. As you correctly noted, I have not ever needed to enter a password to get to the mail, so that threw me initially. I assumed that, when I set up the account years ago, I created a PW and that is what I've been trying to come up with. As it presently stands, when I try to open mail account, it only show mail that had been there from prior to the problem started, but no new mail shows, and I am virtually certain there has been mail during the past three days.

All secured web sites use passwords. Low level sites (like forums, e-mail, and a few others), the users don't sign out. This information, including your logged in status, is stored in cookies. If you were to log out, or the cookies were removed, you would have to log back in.

Some web sites send a signal to browsers not to auto fill. I have found, however, that form filling add-ons [at the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here)] are not effected by this.

Open your Password Manager. Use the search bar to find that site, and press the Show Passwords button. Type about:preferences#security<enter> in the address bar. Across from Passwords, press the Save Passwords button.
