How can I restore old tabs after a crash, perhaps using sessionstore.bak? They are normally restored automatically, but not this time.

The 'sessionstore.bak' file shows that it probably contains all the right information, but: 1. FF 31.0 does not do anything useful with it when using File -> Open File. 2. Shutting down FF, renaming the .bak to 'sessionsstore.js', and restarting FF doesn't help. 3. Renaming it to 'sessionsstore.bak.js' and telling FF to open it (File -> Open File) also does nothing useful: FF just displays the text.

The problem seems to have been described by a few other users, but with no answers that have worked for me.

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
