I want a file with all my bookmarks, a file in html format or a file that I can have in a word document. I don't want to have to go through my entire bookmarks display, clicking on each one and copy/pasting the associated URL into a word document. I have wasted hours trying everything I can think of, and searching for answers via Google all to no avail. This is beyond maddening. HELP

I earlier Firefox versions on could go into manage bookmarks and have access to all bookmark names and their URLs. I want to do that with FF29

A HTML file is in plain text, so reading it is no problem.

As far as I know, that is not possible, HOWEVER: You may export your bookmarks in a file that you can open with any other web browser that will import them into that browser. See the article [Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks] I have not done this before, but it may be readable by humans. I just don't know. To transfer it to another computer, just email this file to yourself.

Thanks for your input. I'm not trying to export into another browser or even do a backup. I want to be able to work with the data outside of FF.

I think I didn't explain myself very well. I've been continuing to work on this and have gotten to a somewhat better spot. I found the Ctrl+Shift+B command - That brought me to the Library which is a good start. I can achieve my goal by highlighting each Name, copy and pasting it into a word document, and then doing the same with the location. As you can imagine, doing this for every entry, one by one in the library will take days.

I want to just grab the library data put into a Word document and be done. Perhaps I'm asking too much.

You can still export all the bookmarks to an HTML file like always has been possible in Firefox.

You can open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) via the Bookmarks menu (Show All Bookmarks). This "Show All Bookmarks" item is also present in the "Show your bookmarks" drop-down list (icon next to the star on the Navigation Toolbar), but you need to look for it at the bottom of that list as there is where it is positioned.

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML
