My sent folders for all accounts spontaneously deleted all mails dated before today

I just discovered this. I have three email accounts on my Thunderbird, I keep a lot of sent mails in the folder for reference and they just vanished! Not in any other folders, not showing as deleted. Just vanished. Help!
