How do I stop updates from resetting my "home page" (I have to reset it every time an update comes in)?

Every time an update for "Firefox" gets installed (and this seems to happen quite frequently) I have to :- 1) Use google etc to re-find my favorite (home page). 2) Use options to once again set this as my "home page" Is there any method of preventing updates from resetting the home page?

My homepages do not get reset with Firefox updates, that should not be happening. I am wondering

  • whether you are just relying on Firefox restarting and displaying the same pages as on the last session.
  • why do you need to google for favourite pages, why not bookmark them
  • try setting your home page (or pages - it allows multiple tabs) and setting Firefox to show your homepage when it restarts
  • alternatively set Firefox to restore previous sessions and be aware that using the home icon will then open your homepages.

Brilliant! Many thanks for the link "how to set the home page" which gave a link to reset to "factory settings" - I've now also got back the feature that opening a new tab gives me a selection of recent sites/pages used. So now hopefully the next time a Firefox update comes in it will behave as it used to before I "lost" that feature, and retain my favorite home page as set in the options.

Glad it is fixed, thanks for posting back.

You may need to be careful when downloading software. Fairly often other software gets bundled with what you want, and and may have at best a barely visible notification advising you what will happen.
