My computer crashed and firefox no longer recognizes me as ever having used it so my profile/bookmarks are gone, I can only find todays info in profile. Help.
Is the old profile hidden somewhere on my computer? Or is it gone forever? I am using Vista. The computer is about to die (keeps making clicking sounds) along with losing my firefox profile, it forgot how to find all my docs and pics but I was able to recover them by doing a system wide search. Odd thing is, the computer can still locate all of my husbands information even though he also had stuff running when it crashed.

Do you still see any profile folders with a random name in this location?
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Windows 7+ versions are hidden folders.
Try to delete the profiles.ini file (if it is still there) to force Firefox to create a new default profile.

A Firefox "reset" creates a new profile and some of your data (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, form data) is automatically imported and your current profile will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data), so you can check for the presence of such a folder on the desktop
