Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can also check the default colors.

this is not a problem caused by an addon its a feature in the beta, aurora, and nightly but not in the public firefox

I don't know of a way to turn that off only for such images.

I agree, this new "feature" is annoying, and it would have made sense to give users an easy and obvious way to turn off such a major UI modification. I don't even see it mentioned in the upgrade changelog, and I couldn't find anything in about:config. Color me irritated.

You can look at this extension to set your preferred background color and remove the centering.

No, that cannot be the only way to return my browser to a state that I find usable. I should not have to add a 3rd party addon to fix something that was broken by an official "upgrade." I appreciate your suggestion, and I mean no disrespect, but that is not an acceptable solution.

MisterAlex, yes, using an addon is the only way to change this behavior in Firefox. Either that or edit the userchrome.css (as told in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/923127 ).

His point is clearly that making a UI change like this without an option to turn it off is horrible programming design, especially since they didn't tell anyone they were going to do this, and thus looks very bad on Mozilla.

I mean, I know users who refuse to update to Firefox 11 over this. It makes transparent PNGs look aweful--if they have black in them, you can't see it. It shows an almost pitiful lack of insight to not realize that this would be a problem.

It's like they want people to quit Firefox. It's supposed to be the user's browser--the one where the users have control. It's supposed to not be like Chrome where big wigs at the top make all the decisions and change everything without giving you a chance to protest.

trlkly, If it is an issue for you, it is easily reverted with the add-on referenced above.

Hi, Firefox Developers, this is just silly!

You think this is minor problem, but this is exactly the kind of problems which forces regular users to switch browser. Regular Joe User just have no clue what happened and why his browser broke horribly on pictures like this. For such user it is much easier to switch browser to Chrome then to find and install suggested add-on. Please don't underestimate the importance of default settings.

Edit, it appears this thread was autolocked as part of an automated forum cleanup. In light of that, I now see no reason why the thread should remain locked.

A message from trlkly sugested this action would be reversed in Firefox 14, but I have not personally investigated that statement.
