Firefox has for a while now, displayed certain words in gibberish.

The majority of text on a site is fine, however i come across certain websites where the headers/text in boxes (dynamic text? i don't have a clue) displays in an unreadable language, but it appears that the spell checker plug-in I have installed seems to recognise words spelt incorrectly in this gibberish.

I have looked at the settings, and the default text is set to times new roman, which every computer seems to have.

Please see the link to see my problem.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Matt

It appears the link isn't displaying, but i've uploaded an image to show what I mean.

Thanks, Matt

Your screenshot didn't attach properly, only the thumbnail shows.
Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

Make sure that you choose an unique name for the image to avoid problems (an image with the same name may already exist). There should be a delete X on the image if the image is uploaded correctly.

Such issues can be caused by an old bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or (bitmap) fonts that Firefox can't display in that size.
Firefox can't display some old bitmap fonts in a larger size and displays gibberish instead.
A possible test is to zoom out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.

You need to uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font.
