email problems with Thunderbird

This morning about 8:15 AM I tried to get my new messages on my email ( Thunderbird). I received a message that"The [email protected] is being processed. Please wait until the processing is complete to get messages". I have waited until now 1:10 PM for the processing to occur and it has not happened. I spoke with my provider, Lumos. and all is working properly on their end. How do we fix this problem. I upgraded to the latest form of Thunderbird on September 20th.
