Filters dont always run

I have a number of filters that mostly work fine sorting messages into suitable folders (inc Junk)- when they run. Sometimes though they don't seem to run; the messages are still in my Inbox. And manually running the filters on the Inbox won't make them move into their folders either. Sometimes I've created a new filter from a message that is in my Inbox ( I use quickfilter) and when I come to look at my filter rules the exact same one was already there. e.g. I have a rule that moves anything from amazon.co.uk into a folder called "retailers". But I'll find several emails including one from Amazon, with that domain, in my Inbox. And the rule that specifies where to move the message is definitely in place and has worked loads of times previously. And usually there will be a few other emails from other sources and destined for other folders also sitting in there. There is nothing about any of these emails that makes them different from the hundreds of others that have moved successfully, and it's not any particular rule or folder ( so please don't home in on my Amazon example - it was an example). When I look at the filters log file nothing has been recorded for those emails. It's as if the filters routine has taken a lunch break (except that it also ignores those messages when I try to run the filters manually). Any ideas how I can resolve this?

re :e.g. I have a rule that moves anything from amazon.co.uk into a folder called "retailers".

Let's start with that filter as it as good a place as any.

AS the email from eg: amazon did not get moved from Inbox, please post images of the following.

  • Image showing the Filter rule you created.
  • Image showing the full headers of email that was filtered ok.
  • Image showing the full headers of email that did not get filtered.

If you use Paint program, you can smudge or erase details such as your email address.

please confirm: what type of mail account is this POP or IMAP? If Pop, does the mail account use it's own Inbox ? - (not a deferred or Global account that uses 'Local Folders' Inbox)
