prevent restoring session when starting

more options

I occasionally get those annoying popups that will not let you close the window without answering a prompt. In my experience it is best to kill the firefox process rather than answer the prompt (who knows what will happen when you click that button). However, when i use task manager to end the firefox process, the next time i start it it immediately restores the previous session, loading the same popup window, which means I can never close that window...

I have the startup option set to "Show my homepage" (it is obviously not respecting this setting)

This is a change in behavior... It used to be the "Oops there was a problem" page loaded after you killed the firefox process, which was perfect because I could choose to restore what I wanted.

Is it possible to configure firefox to ALWAYS show the home page on startup?

There is a setting that should prevent Firefox from trying to restore automatically after a crash, so it goes straight to the "this is embarrassing" screen which lets you choose windows and tabs to restore. Here are the details:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sess and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes preference and change the value from 1 to 0 and OK that.

Hope that helps.
