Mozilla 29.0 crashes and have some slowness with flashplayer

more options

I have posted a theme to Mozilla 27.0 because of its slowness at the beginning of the release. I have described the problem I have noticed. For Mozilla 26.0 it was the same. Now for Mozilla 28.0 it was alright, but only for the first days of release.

For the new Mozilla 29.0 Browser it is the same. Sometimes it seems that the flashplayer plugin is not working well and a error message can be read. And sometimes Mozilla crashes down, although I have not changed the settings of Mozilla.

To start Mozilla with deactivated addons could not solve the problem.

Can you give me your crash reports?

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and paste them into your response here.

Try disabling Hardware Acceleration.

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Hello bermea,

thank you for your answer. I will send you another message with the crash reports.

Since firefox version 26.0 there are crashes when the new version was released and after one or two weeks the crashing problems are fixed. I hope this momentary problems will be fixed in next days like in the other versions before.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

This looks like out-of-memory crashes where something is using up all available memory.

I had to use Chrome to get here because Firefox no longer works on my machine (a recent HP Pavilion running Windows 8.1). The program crashes after about 1 or 2 minutes no matter what I am doing. It crashed twice when I was trying to post to Mozilla Support, so I went to Chrome. Now I pray that I can get my bookmarks off the program somehow. This is a disaster for Mozilla. I have never heard of this kind of behavior from one of their products.

Please create a new thread for your problem as most likely your issue isn't the same as the OP's. You can create a question at /questions/new. Please be sure to copy/paste the crash report IDs by navigating to about:config and pasting them into your thread.

I have tried to do that, but Firefox won't stay open long enough for me to complete it. I'll try later, but it is difficult at the moment.

No, I don't think it's just XP. I have the same problem, and I have a Windows 8.1 machine that's just a few months old. Also, for me, this never happened before. I have used Firefox for more than a decade with no problems. I happened to reboot my computer early Saturday, and the 29.0 version downloaded and installed before the 29.0.1 fix was released. However, that did not fix the problem. One of the web site volunteers asked me to send in crash reports, but I can't get Firefox to stay up long enough to do that. Still waiting for a fix from Mozilla.

I was having this issue. I uninstalled FoxIt Reader (including the browser plugin that came with it). I installed Adobe Reader instead. Now when I go to a page with flash it works. YouTube is working for me now also.

Since I use Firefox both at work and home and it wasn't crashing at work I reasoned it had to be the FoxIt Reader plugin. It was the only thing that was different between my PCs.
