I do like to work with Thunderbird - 115. At the moment there is one issue - for me very important - that prevents me to work with it. Since the last time TB executed a "compact folder" process i cannot recover the "compact away folders). I have indeed found the folders and everytime i copy them back in the profile, tb is filtering the "compacted folders" away again! To mention here is that i have turned off the compact process in the settings. It is indeed a bit frustrating. Even if i delete the account in question - in this case iCloud - and reinstall it with a new password, the folders will appear in my folder list and disappear after a few seconds...! Is there a parameter/filter that have to be turned off manually in the profile to reolve this issue? Please help - otherwise i will have to continue to work with Apple Mail - which is against my purpose. Thx a lot.

IMAP is synchronized to the mail server. What you are saying sounds suspiciously like you are trying to impose your will on the server by copying stuff into Thunderbird.

There is an option in account settings > server settings under the advanced button to only show selected/subscribed folders. There is also a right click on the account in the folder pane to subscribe to folders on the server.

One thing to note is that if the server has the folders, attempts to replace them from Thunderbird have a risk of corruption.

One thing that keeps coming up. Especially with Apple users is they have installed antivirus products that block Thunderbird from accessing the mail server, either at thesoftware firewall level or through defective email scanning and then wonder why Thunderbird removes the folders it can not synchronise. It is highly probable your issue is an antivirus product and not Thunderbird. Despite Thunderbird being where you are having your problems.
