I compose my outbound email and hit send but it just hangs there. I often have to cancel, compose another email and resend. It usually goes on the second attempt. Any thought on what would cause it to hang?

My guess would be an anti virus program hanging up the send while it scans mail from a machine it claims is not infected with anything.

I have this problem too except that it doesn't go through after repeated attempts.

I have tried disabling anti virus, switching to another, re installing Thunderbird all to no avail. This has been going on for 2 months, and is making email with Thunderbird v frustrating!

I believe I may have now a solution to my problem: I have disabled add ons, (tools/start without add ons) and now find that emails send without any problem. I installed an add on "profile password" 2 years ago, but set it to not require a password 12 months ago. I have now actually removed it, restarted with remaining add ons activated, and all is still well. I conclude "profile password" to be the culprit. Can't find it in current list of add ons.

That is the first time I have seen reports of issues with that add-on. Thank you for taking the time to provide your solution.

Turkeysnipe,

Do you mean the addon at https://freeshell.de/~kaosmos/profilepassword-en.html ? Do you know if you were using the most recent 0.7 version ?
