I could view my Top Sites on a separate screen when I clicked on the Top Site button on the task bar. After the latest upgrade of Firefox I lost this feature even though the Top Site prompt is still there when I right click on the web site page. What happened?

I have this same problem too, I used to use the top sites tab on a regular basis and now have had to change the way I use firefox.

That isn't a standard feature in Firefox, it was added by an extension that you installed. Said extension was probably disabled when the 5.0 update was installed, due to "incompatibility". That extension may need to be updated by its' developer, or maybe a "bump" with the ACR extension is all that is needed.
