The navigation buttons (back, forward, reload) have stopped working in Firefox for Windows 11 since two days ago. This is a major show-stopper.

That's strange.

Back: If you right-click the Back button, does Firefox list the previous pages visited in the tab?

Reload: What happens if you click the reload button -- nothing? never finishes reloading (stays X)? something else?

Also some tabs do not open when you click on them. This seems to have happened since the upgrade to Windows 11 v. 22H2

jscher200. Thanks for the response. No the back and forward buttons are greyed out and do not work at all. The only way I can go back is through Library, History functions. I have' repaired' Firefox from Windows, run it in safe mode with the extensions disabled, but the problem persists.

Also the Reload button does not always work. When you hover the mouse pointer over it it often stays the same and there is no help ribbon which is normally displayed (saying Reload current page). Likewise Foward and Back buttons, no description appear when you hover the pointer over them.

I am still using Windows 10, so if there are exciting new problems with Windows 11, I won't be able to experience them myself for a while.

Regarding the Back button, is it possible Firefox is switching to a new tab and closing the old one? You could try reopening the last closed tab and see whether it is what you were expecting from the Back button. Either:

  • Right-click the current tab, then click Reopen Closed Tab
  • Press Ctrl+Shift+T
  • Use the menu button > History > Recently Closed Tabs

I can't explain a missing tooltip for a toolbar button. Have you done a normal shutdown and restart of Windows since this problem started?

Right clicking doesn't work either. Somehow the mouse pointer is not being recognised at all on the navigation buttons. But eveything else works ok.
