I had a HD failure, but I was able to revive it. Time and access to the legacy HD (now in an USB3 enclosure) are going to be limited, so I need to recover what I can. I had many sites bookmarked on my previous and current/updated version of Firefox. I did not export or actively save them prior to the HD replacement. I don't even know where to look in order to restore them to my now working computer and fresh Win7 OS install. Can anybody suggest how I might recovery these bookmarks? Thank you!

key3.db and logins.json : These are the Password files. Copy Both !

persdict.dat : custom dictionary – words you added to the dictionary

mimeTypes.rdf : What to do with what type of file.

places.sqlite : History and Bookmarks.

prefs.js : Your settings. Note, If you were having problems, this could be contaminated.

cert8.db and possibly cert_override.txt : Stores all your security certificate settings and any SSL certificates you have imported into Firefox. If removed, the file will be replaced.

search.json.mozlz4 file stores the user-installed search engines that are available in the Firefox v47+

search.sqlite file and searchplugins folder store the search engines that are available in the Firefox Search bar before Firefox v47

Thanks, Fred. You did help me turn my "light" on. I went on my old HD and found a Favorites folder that I was able to copy onto my new C: drive. I never formally "backed up" my bookmarks (Favorites), so they do not seem to be in a JSON file format. I could not find the places.sqlite folder. I have no clue. I searched my old HD and within the Mozilla Search box. I attempted to "Import them from a file"...no joy.

I can open each "Internet Shortcut" and access the web site. That's the good news. When I select New Folder, I cannot name it or later, re-name it. So all my new bookmarks are going into a folder named "New Folder". SMH. I have so many saved favorite web sites that pulling them into this new instance of Firefox may well take days, if there is no other method available. I would appreciate any suggestions you or the community might be able to offer. Thank you!
