Add the Search bar to your Firefox toolbar

You can use the Search bar on the New Tab page or you can search the Web from the address bar. You can also change your search settings in Firefox to add a separate Search bar next to the address bar.You can also customize Firefox to add a separate Search bar to your Firefox toolbar.

Follow these steps to add a Search bar to your Firefox toolbar:

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and then select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click Search on the left panel.
  3. Click Add search bar in toolbar.

  4. Close the Settings page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
Tip: Here's another way to add or remove the Search bar: Click the menu button Fx89menuButton, then click More tools and select Customize Toolbar… Drag the Search bar into or out of the toolbar and then click Done. See Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars for details.

Follow these steps to add or remove a separate Search bar:

  1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton, then click More tools.
  2. Select Customize Toolbar….

  3. Drag the Search bar item into or out of the toolbar and then click Done.

Note: The separate Search bar will be automatically removed if you haven't used it for 120 days.
