Hello,

I synchronized my FF with another computer and made the mistake to remove all passwords before logging off sync so I lost all my passwords but a few.

However I still have the logins-backup.json on my main computer with everything inside. However when I replace the 'logins.json' by the content of logins-backup.json it's always reverted.

How can I replace all my passwords with the logins-backup.json content ?

Did you make sure to disconnect Sync ? You did made sure that Firefox is closed when you placed the logins-backup.json as logins.json in the main profile folder ?

Thanks ! I disabled sync and removed the logins.json along with the key4.db (not sure if it was needed tho) and it worked ! Re-sync afterwards went fine !

Hello !

In the end that solution only worked for a few days until I tried to add another password.

I still got the logins.json file but I cannot manage to get it to work, the firefox-sync does not have any password in it anymore as well.

I tried to reinstall entirely firefox (cleaned all profiles etc), signed-in and out of sync, I still have logins.json and logins-backup.json but none will apply, every time I oppen the passwords manager its empty...

I would love to add manually all the passwords but they're all encrypted (I still know by hearth both the master password and the ff-sync one).

(also, beside the key4.db which I don't have a backup for I still have the a backup of the old profile folder)

Have an excellent day and thanks for any help you could provide.

logins.json will only work if you have the correct matching key file (key4.db) as only that file has the correct encryption key.

If you have logins.json and key4.db in a backup then at least you can place those files in a profile to see whether that allows to access the logins.

You can look a utility to browse System Restore points to see if you can locate useful logins and key files.

Thanks ! I did not know that, I will look into the bin and I think I have another computer that might still have it !
