EMAIL outgoing service on Thunderbird
Email Sending message failed . Message can't be sent because connecting to the outgoing server SMTP smtp.live.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connection. How can I fix the outgoing server SMTP settings so I can send email. thank you

I tried on account settings in Thunderbird. to add SMTp.office365.com 587 STATTTLS but I did something wrong. Any help is appreciated. Dorothy thank you.
If you've added smtp.office365.com, check that it is selected in the right pane of Account Settings, in the Outgoing Server drop-down, when the incoming account is selected in the left pane of Account Settings.
I added the smtp.office365.com and it worked one time. It is selected in the right pane of the outgoing server. BUt when I send a message I am asked again for a password each time I send a message. How do I change that to make it permanent? Thanks.
In addition to my last reply, how do I save my password in Thunderbird password manager.? Thank you.
Change the incoming to outlook.office365.com on 993 if the account is IMAP, 995 if it's POP, keep the other settings. Remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Preferences, restart TB, enter the password when prompted and check the box to have it stored in Saved Passwords.
I went into preferences and searched for passwords. I entered a password and it works for now so we wil see. thank you for your help. I'm learning slowly. Dorothy
I added my pasword to STMP.office365.com and to MSN pop live. But when I select thunderbird, I am still being asked to provide a primary password. I thought the problem was solved but just wonder if there is anything else I need to do to eliminate the password requirement. Thank you again for your help. Dorothy
The primary password can be reset if you've forgotten it or never set one:

Dear Sfhowes, Thanks again. I changed my password but how do I save it. I am still being asked for a password each time I go to Thunderbird email. Is there something in preferences that I can click on? Thank you. Dorothy
Are you being asked for a primary password or a mail account password? Primary passwords can be reset as explained above, and account passwords can be saved by checking the box in the password prompt.
Check that you don't have an app that resets TB settings, or an external password manager, that is part of some security suites, that is controlling TB passwords.
I changed my primary password but it says I will have to sign in each time I log into a session. How do I set up an account password so I can be logged in automatically . This is very frustrating and I would like to understand what I am doing wrong. Is there any way we can speak on the phone? My apologies. Dorothy
I do not have a Thunderbird app or an external password manager as far as I know. How do I find my account password? Thank you.
I think you should ignore the primary password for now, as it's only purpose is to protect access to the account passwords. An account password is stored in Saved Passwords if you check the box in the password prompt. If you've lost or forgotten the account password, it can only be recovered or reset on your mail provider's website, or by phone with them.
