thunderbird lost mail messages during 'move-to' between folders, can they be recovered?
using gmail to host mail, made an account to login and download mail via IMAP. All went well. For example the voluminous inbox was there, and I could read all emails, and new ones arrived.
I created an Inbox in my local folder. Went to the Inbox on the gmail account. I hit control-A to select all messages. I then right clicked in the window selected "move-to" and moved all the Inbox messages to the Local Folders Inbox. It appeared to have moved the mail, as the gmail Inbox became empty ... but ....
Now when I go to the Local Folders Inbox, there is a long list of emails with blank Subject and blank Correspondence, all with the same Date. Clicking on any of them just brings up a blank tab. Scrolling way down this list there are old messages, but all mail of the last few months appears to be gone.
I had also done the same for some smaller folders and it worked. However, for another large folder move-to also produced blank messages at the top of the list, with only older ones present. For this other folder I went to properties->repair, and it didn't appear to do anything. All the messages up top are still blank.
Any chance of seeing my mail again?
BTW, This machine has plenty of free disk space.
