Firefox playing videos with Adobe Flash Player restarts computer without error.
Trying to play a video from whatever website with flash videos restarts my computer with no error and no data in event log. I disabled automatic restart on system failure and got BSOD with the following data:
Stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xAA3AB93C, 0x00000000)
Couldn't find the error in Google. My version is latest of Firefox Nightly Build 27.0a1. Computer spec: AMD Athlon 2700+ ATI Radeon 4670HD C-Media CMI9738 (mobo integrated) 1.5GB RAM
Flash player 11.9 r900

Its socket .462, that old.
So i just reinstalled again windows xp and the problem magically disapeared. Now I have both accelerations enabled and no restarts, no lag. THE POWER OF WINDOWS

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Firefox and/or Flash may be incompatible with your graphics card drivers.
Try disabling hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash.
(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
(B) In Flash, there is a method that assumes you can access Flash in this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
However, if that is not possible in Firefox, you might be able to use IE to do it, I'm not sure whether the setting crosses over.
Its a clean install of Windows XP with latest drivers for video and sound. Before reinstalling i did not have the problem. Disabling Flash Player hardware acceleration did solve restarting system, but now videos lag and are not watchable.
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
- Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Disabling hardware acceleration just makes firefox and videos even more slow. Enabling flash acceleration while firefox's acceleration is disabled restarts computer. Having flash acceleration disabled and firefox acceleration enabled doesn't restart computer, but with more than 360p lag. Altough that's a temporarily workaround i still don't understand why before reinstalling windows xp i had no problems with having both accelerations enabled and no restarting, and i still need to find out how to fix it so i can watch videos normally and play flash browser games. I also posted a ticket in adobes support about the problem, but so far there's no answer.
How old is your computer?
Does Flash run in other browsers (Not Google Chorme)?
I ask you not to test Flash on Google Chrome because Chrome comes with its own built it Flash Player and does not use Adobe.
