For whatever reason, my NOAA radar website refuses to loop while checking with local Weather Bureau Office finds that their system works fine. They told me that there probably some flash app that was used that has been dropped by Firefox. How do I get it back?

Hi hekdic, Local NOAA radar is working fine for me.

Do you have a url that we can check?

There's a problem with new Firefox and looped NOAA sites. It's not with the local radar.

Any WebGL related messages in the Web Console ?

I guess that I need to say that my personal computer using Firefox 75 won't loop, not that I think something is wrong with Firefox 75. When I checked with our local weather station and they said that their system was working fine and then said that their system used Flash and some browzers were doing away with Flash related works and that might be the problem. I guess I should have said all of this first but I didn't.

I've been using Firefox for years and have never had a problem until now. I'm having a good bit of trouble figuring out how to get to the Firefox forum since it's in this new configuration. It's taken me 2 days to get this far.

So, is there a fix for my particular problem or should I go to Microsoft?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I guess it should be clear that I'm not a computer nerd, just a user and I use Win 7, which I forgot would probably make a big difference. I've been using computers since the 60s but they've always just been something like a typewriter for me, so some of the well meant offers are beyond me.

I stopped the last post because the cursor just quit moving so I'll finish here. I don't think I use the same lexicon as most of you. I wouldn't know where to go to some of the places you mention without more background on browser structure and where I would go to find the right buttons to push. Is there a problem with Flash apps? I believe that I've head that Flash is subject to hacking easier that others. I guess I can find another way to get another weather map although I like using the NOAA data.

Can you give a link to the page where the radar map isn't working? If it's not obvious which one it is, could you mention where on the page it is?

In case Flash is needed for the site, please see this article:

If you set Flash to "Never Activate" then the website might move to other (HTML5) means.

I checked the suggested Flash article and the last update was 2/11/20 so that wasn't the problem, since I had checked it since then.

Is your Flash showing up-to-date on Adobe's test page?

Did you confirm that Flash is actually required and used (i.e. do you see the plugin icon and a Flash context menu) ?

Can you post a link to a page that isn't working like requested above as that allows us to check what method is used for the loop ?

You can also check the Web Console for possible related messages.
