Firefox 3.6 Windows7 Pro (64 bit) The active tab used to have the X (for closing tab) highlighted in red. This was useful for identifying which tab was currently active. Without the red, there is not enough contrast between active and inactive tabs to easily distinguish them.

Also, this issue was probably addressed in this article http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=1&comments_parentId=665016#threadId700363 The article was flagged as answered, but in fact there was no answer.

I liked the red x very much myself and would love to have it back.

But I think I have found a way to distinguish which tab you are currently on without the red x.

Scan with your eyes across all the tabs you have open and look ONLY at the "x"

It is not as noticeable as with the red, but you will see that the page you are currently on is a DARKER x. This is the tab you are presently viewing.

The red highlighted X was much better because it stood out. But at least there is still a difference if you look at the x.

Even with my Color Tabs add-on extension, I can see the difference and it has given something to look for to see what page I want to close.
