firefox 41 does not save default program when opening downloaded jpeg file
Firefox 41 Windows 10 I download a jpg file then click on the Firefox download arrow, which displays the file. When I click on the file a dialog box pops up asking "How do you want to open this file?" I select my photo editor, Corel Paint Shop Pro, check the box next to "Always use this app to open .jpg files." and click "OK."
When I click on tanother jpg file in the download arrow library, the same dialog box shows up. The system or Firefox, is not recognizing my preference/default for jpg files.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
Thanks for the reply.
I tried everything in the "How to fix preferences that won't save" article, but nothing I tried worked. I refreshed Firefox. I am not running Creative ZenCast, McAfee, or Norton. I do not have a user.js file and creating a blank one did not help. Deleting the pref.js file did not help.
Systems/Default apps shows the correct setting for Photo Viewer and for individual file types.
No idea where to look next.
Deleting the mimeTypes.rdf will reset all download actions to the default settings.
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Locate the mimeTypes.rdf file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
Nope. That didn't work, either. I even tried restarting the PC, but no joy. The dialog box returns every time.
I'm running an older version of Corel Paint Shop Pro, X4. Could that be the issue, or is it a W-10 bug?
Bummer.
Firefox would normally open jpeg file in a tab in case the server sends the file as a valid image content type (image/jpg). If you get an 'open with' save dialog then this means that the server is sending another content (MIME) type for this file. Firefox stores the automatic choice as a specific MIME type as possibly show in "Tools > Options > Applications" and saves this in mimeTypes.rdf.

So are you there is no fix and I have to click twice to open jpeg files into PSP? Sounds like a hell of a bug.
I read the "File_types_and_download_actions" link, but didn't see a cure.
This worked in Firefox 40 on windows 7. On windows 10, no joy.
