I have down loaded firefox 8 severaltimes but how do i activate it?

As I said , I have down loaded firefox several times but when I click on the firefox icon it still opens the old version. How do i get the new version running?

You posted here with Firefox 8.0 on WinXP, unless you are using a different PC right now.
