How do you use the Flexible Space?

I'm using the brand new Firefox 5. I like the "add new tab" button being right next to the open tabs. So I tried using the flex space to get it there. It does work (for the most part), but the tabs are "scrunched up" unless there is only two or so open, or unless there are a whole lot open.

So, two questions. 1. Can I get the add tab button where i want it without using the flexible space?

2. Is there a way to get it to stop scrunching up the new tabs?

You can move the New Tab button to the left end of the Tab bar or place a flexible space to the left of it to have it positioned at the right side or move the button to the far right of the tab bar.
If you move the New Tab button to another toolbar that it becomes the regular New Tab toolbar button that previous Firefox versions have.

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
