I got home, turned on the PC, loaded up Firefox, and ALL my addons are disabled and tossed into their 'legacy' pool of crap. No happy colorful theme, NO adblocker, no Ghostery... it even disabled my Bitdefender add-ons. Something is NOT right here. Anyone know what's going on? Firefox has NOT updated in at least a week or two, so I doubt it was an update breaking anything.

Mozilla has rolled-out a fix for this. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours, you don’t need to take active steps.

In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled

  1. Go to [=] > Options > Privacy & Security.
  2. Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked.

I you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled.

They are working on a general fix that doesn't need to rely on this and will keep you updated.

Oh, and firefox for the longest time now, has been refusing to update passwords when told to. Just flat out doesn't do it. Maddening.

Same here, all but three of my add-ons are now disabled, including AdBlock Plus!

While glad I'm not the only one, Getting livid fast at this. It disabled every add-on I have. Now the question is: how do we get in touch with Mozilla to actually find out WTF happened? Gonna go use Opera until it's fixed. Wont' touch Chrome or IE with a 10 foot pole LOL. Oh, and I've tried adding new addons or themes, it instantly pops up with "download failed, please check your connection". It's like Firefox decided it didn't want addons anymore all of a sudden.

It's got to be a fault surely, they couldn't possibly have suddenly declared all those add-ons incompatible, I hope!

Fault to be sure, but with no update to Firefox in weeks, why would at least 2 of us suddenly have all our add-ons disabled. I got ads coming out my ears now and it's making me crazy. I swear since Firefox released Quantum I've had more issues than I ever did with the old versions. Not saving passwords, randomly changing page permissions, gyfcat.com locking me to the site and not letting me back button out, and now this fiasco. Getting real sick of how amazingly horrible quantum has turned out honestly. Just sad to me, I LOVED Firefox more than any other browser, but it's dying it's final breath to me FAST.

Nine out of my twelve extensions have just been declared incompatible! This is pretty disastrous. I do hope it's a mistake.

I don't think forum volunteers yet know the cause or remedy for this problem. However, know that dozens of people are reporting the same thing in recent hours, so it may be due to a rolling update gone wrong.

I'm totally clueless and depressed by this. I pray you find something where I can't and hopefully can set me straight on what the heck happened. Too weird that it happened, and not just to me. Probably others out there too. Thanks for the replies, hope you have some luck finding out whats happening!

I have a feeling a certificate expired on Mozilla and nobody noticed it.

Ahhh. THAT is good to know. Still rather bizarre that it would just randomly go into effect weeks after an update. Hope it's not part of something bigger and more sinister :-p. This is the point the govt would blame Russian hackers LOL.

The realquestion is why do they suddenly invalidate ALL addons... just makes no sense

My sentiments exactly :-( . Not even choosy, ALL gone, for no apparent reason. Bizarre at best, possibly malicious at worst :-/

Did anyone else lose all of their tabs too? That happened at the same time my extensions were disabled.

Luckily for me, no. I brought up Firefox and had all 20 of the previous tabs still there. Just overloaded with ads now since all the adblockers went offline :-/

I didn't lose my tabs, since I had several open at the time. But Firefox completely removed Adblock Plus (which was active) and Trend Micro toolbar (which was disabled).

My add-ons disappeared while I was using Firefox. Didn't even have to find they were gone when I opened it, just changed everything in a flash. My password manager--gone (luckily I can open it in another tab), AdBlock--gone, contrast manager (needed because gray on white does not work for anyone over 40)--gone, download managers--gone. To say I'm angry is putting it mildly. Luckily I have my tabs, but I have to wonder it they'll go away by tomorrow morning. Quantum Firefox sucks out loud. I agree with Pretzelisdead. Quatum has been nothing but a bundle of problems. If this is progress, take me back to the horse and buggy.

LOL. Love the horse and buggy part XD. But yea, the more I chat with others, the less and less anyone seems to like this 'upgrade'. So what if it's 1/100 faster than the old version, at least it worked right?!?!?  :-p

UPDATE

The Add-ons team is working on a fix for this. It looks like a certificate used to sign many popular extensions expired. (The verification process checks that certificate.)

I don't know how soon re-signed versions of those extensions will become available, or whether another workaround will be discovered. We are all hoping to learn more soon.

I have same problem. I came from work and all of my add-ons are disabled "xxxx add-in could not be verified for use in Mozilla and has been disabled" - it tells me to find a replacement. I DON'T want replacements.

Something went wrong with version 66 release. I'm using Mozilla for Win7 on a desktop if that helps.

Heck - if this doesn't get fixed - I might as well switch to Chrome.
