When a link from the "history" sidebar is re-visited, its url stays in the address bar drop down list, as if the specific url has been typed there. Is there a way to prevent all this cluttering? I would like to have in the drop down list only the urls that I have typed there, as a kind of bookmark. Thank you.

Hi, please see under the heading How can I control what results the location bar shows me? in Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox, and deselect History.

Thanks for your reply but I had already read and tried that suggestion, and It is not what I want. Deselecting "History" makes all the urls disappear. As I said, I would like to keep in the drop down list only the specific and useful to me urls that I have typed there, like in the Internet Explorer, SlimJet, Opera and Vivaldi address bar. Any other suggestions?

Note that there are two lists used in the location bar drop-down list. The list that open if you click the Down Arrow at the far right of the location bar opens a list with items that you typed or pasted in the location bar. The other list that shows suggestions opens when you start typing in the location bar. What shows in that list is part of the Location Bar setting in "Options/Preferences -> Privacy", so in case History is checked you will see websites you have visited offered as suggestions.

Thanks for your reply but again it does not address my question. First of all, I am not talking about the suggestions list (the second list that you mention). I am only talking about the first list that you mention, the one that appears when I click the Down Arrow. In that drop down list of typed or pasted urls, stay not only the items that I type or paste (which of course I want them to stay) but also the urls of re-visited links from the History sidebar (which I do not want them to stay). Example: I have typed/pasted in the address bar the Homepage ulr of Reuters News because I want it to stay there. Now, I go there, start clicking and reading several news articles and naturally, their urls are recorded and appear in the history sidebar. If, later on, I re-visit these articles by clicking their links from the History sidebar, the urls stay in the drop down list together with the original typed url of Reuters Homepage. (Obviously, I do not want all this clutter to stay permanently in the drop down list and I start deleting them so that only the original typed Reuters homepage stays there). I think I can't be more clear (and I guess that since cor-el was not able to help, there might be no solution). So, is there a way to make the address bar behave like a usual address bar, (like the ones from IE, the Chrome-based SlimJet, Vivaldi or the old Opera) where only the typed & pasted urls stay there?
