I recently became aware of the above file being attached to hundreds of files in my Thunderbird account. I first saw them when I was defragmenting my computer. There were 100s of files with that name on them and they were almost all files somewhere in Thunderbird. This is the name listed as "Type of file" before it's location in Thunderbird.

You can not be to prescriptive in your search when dealing with malware. It morphs almost on a daily basis. About as often as detection tools get updates to locate it. Hence my try a couple. Newer threats are often not well detected after the event for a week or more as once they are installed the heuristics engines generally do not work as well. Although I have no idea why.

Anyway we can call this one closed.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at those solutions but can't find it in my uninstall list so can't uninstall it. The files don't say "youtube", they say "youtubie" although I'm pretty sure that's where they come from. Sometimes if I try to download a photo it attaches to the file and changes the location. I couldn't delete it or open it at first but eventually found a way. The photo is lost though.

I would suggest you try a couple of malware detection tools.

Perhaps malwarebytes and spybot search and destroy would do something for you. Whatever your using for anti virus is clearly not up to the job.

Great news. I already had Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed plus Adaware, Spyblaster and CCleaner. I installed Spybot S&D and ran it. I shut down and re-started then ran Defraggler because that's where I would always see these files and their locations, hundreds of them. This time there wasn't one single youtubie file in almost 3,000 fragmented files. Thanks for the tip. Strangely, when I Google the name of the file...YoutubieAdBloCaKe I get nothing except a query asking if I meant YoutubeAdBloCKer.
