Yes, it's an old chestnut this one: various pages loading completely blank. I have no security issues – ran combofix just in case – everything is working OK... except Firefox and its blank pages.

I followed advice given in the following post and there were no suspicious addons:

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/940483

I load these blank pages in IE without any problems - If it’s simply a question of updating Firefox I shall do so, but this shouldn’t be happening in the first place.

Hi, can you update your firefox and try again. goto Help->About Firefox and it will be automatically updated.

Alright, I'll update.

But if it doesn't solve the issue... I'll be back.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Lost all my addons after reset… what a hoot! A waste of time.

Then I read Cor-el’s post: “Do NOT reset”

Clearing cache made no difference, but deleting cookies did... most recent blank pages on Soundcloud and T-mobile now load normally. However, when my mobile broadband signal is poor I still get the occasional completely blank page. Yet this blank page problem affects neither IE or Chrome no matter how slowly the page loads.
