Firefox used to show a dropdown box at the top that would automatically detect and translate a page for me from japanese to english, but it's gone now. How do I get this back? That was very important tool for me. It used to show all the time but stopped yesterday.

That is not a built in feature of Firefox but would be added by an add-on. I see that you use the Google toolbar, so that is a likely add-on that gave you this feature.

Open the Google toolbar options dialog, go to the tools panel and make sure that Translate is selected.

Not related to your problem, but you are using an old, incompatible version of Java, you should update it at http://java.com/

Thanks but I cannot find the add-on. I searched through the add-on directory and even downloaded a few, but it's none of them. I wonder if it was linked to Rikaichan or just an automatic feature of the old firefox browser? I recently upgraded to 3.6.6

This was never a built-in feature of Firefox. Your user agent string includes the text GTB7.1 which indicates that Google Toolbar 7.1 was installed at some point. If you have uninstalled it, you can re-install it from http://toolbar.google.com
