Does the problem still happen if you use Firefox safe mode? That mode disables hardware acceleration, uses the default theme, and disables extensions.

Does Edit > Paste Special in Word work?

I have most of the add-ons disabled in Firefox and still have the problem,

Copy and paste do not work in Word. Having tested it with a sample sentence, paste did not copy and place the sentence. Instead it pasted the last item I pasted in Firefox when I had a couple of windows open and pasting from one window to another into search bars.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

OK, but that is not a real solution. I cannot use it that way all the time.

If it does work when you boot Windows in Safe mode then you have software running that is preventing the clipboard from working properly.

You can try to use the Autoruns utility to see if you can identify that software or Windows service.

I could not open Word in Safe Mode. However, Microsoft identified the problem in connection with 19 updates that were available on October 9, 2012 for this system. Their recommendation was to do System Restore to that date, which fixed the problem. Thanks for your availability.
