Download AND Open PDFs like Chrome
As far as I can tell I'm able to open PDFs OR I'm able to download PDFs but I can't do both. With Chrome (which I use at work) when a PDF is downloaded it then triggers the system PDF viewer. Is there a way to do this with Firefox?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. This is with Firefox Quantum 68.0.1 on Win 10. P.P.S. I can find lots of articles about toggling between the two options but I can't find the "both" that I'm looking for.

The View PDF files using Firefox’s built-in viewer document has the steps to do this.
Using the Applications section of the Firefox settings, you can specify how Firefox handles certain types of files. For PDFs, you'll have the option to preview in Firefox, save the file or automatically open it with a PDF viewer installed on your computer (like Adobe Reader).
Hope this helps.
This doesn't actually address my issue I want to both save AND open the file. This is merely toggling between viewing OR saving.
When I set the viewer to be other than Preview in Firefox the PDF is still not saved to anywhere that I can see it and have it remain. Now, I assume it is in some cache folder and thus is technically saved on disk but that doesn't help in this case.
Thanks though!
Matt
Hi Matt, if you instruct Firefox to open a download in another application, Firefox will store the file in the Windows Temp folder. This is separate from and not affected by clearing Firefox's browsing cache.
But on your main point, I'm not aware of any way to both Save the downlod to your preferred folder AND automatically launch it in your preferred application. You would need to launch it from the list that drops from the Downloads arrow (two extra clicks).
