PLEASE HELP! Installed Thunderbir on existing account.
I installed Thunderbird as "existing account" since old computer crashed and died; new computer is windows 10. I am willing to accept (although it's tough) I more than likely won't be able to retrieve old emails and all my contacts, I use SPECTRUM CHARTER for internet. I'm so frustrated (I wish Mozilla had a number to call for support) because I noticed when sending emails there is a delay in sending, but worse yet, I don't receive emails unless I close thunderbird and reopen.
I'm sure it's due to IMAP vs. POP (which is believe was my old setting) I installed existing as IMAP, not knowing what to do.
If I could jus speak to someone to walk me through this I'm sure we could resolve. Or the very least, provided support here with step by step. Thank you in advance!

Thunderbird is a free program offering free support via this forum only. Support is freely offered by volunteers - other users of Thunderbird - in their free time. These volunteers are from all around the world which helps to cover all the time zones.
There are no offices containing paid people waiting for calls. No phone number. Sorry.
As your old computer hard drive is dead and you have nothing backed up on an external drive, you may have to accept loss of data.
IMAP is very different from POP. Imap stores emails on server and you need to subscribe to see folders. This provides you with a virtual view of emails on your computer.
How to subscribe to see folders:
- Right click on imap mail account in left Folder Pane and click on 'Subscribe'
- Select folders and click on 'Subscribe',
- click on 'OK'
You will probably notice all the basic folders will be automatically visible.
You can synchronise folders so you download full emails rather than just headers. There is a load of good info at this link, so suggest you give it read through as it may help with soem queries:
