The extension to Create PDF is missing from Quantum. Is there a Firefox recommended replacement?

I'm glad they finished it in time!

Hi bdjohnson14, to trigger an update, go into Acrobat and use Help > Check for Updates.

Edit: It looks like Acrobat XI users may not have been invited to the party. Adobe announced that support would end Oct. 15, 2017...

Thanks guys that looks like it would have solved the problem, if I was using Adobe DC (the purchased product). I'm only using Adobe Reader DC...

It's strange too because in previous versions of Firefox I didn't have the full Adobe version and that extension worked.

A new Adobe Reader DC was released yesterday. Try the update with in the program please.

It says there's no updates available but I can't say when it was updated.

Installed: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (18.009.20044)

Disregard the URL name as is not Betas. 20yrs going here. https://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Adobe-Acrobat-Reader-DC-for-Windows/942951453/1 Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for Windows 2018.009.20044 Nov.14, 2017

So good. You have the newest version now. You getting it to work with Firefox ?

No still no PDF extension. I even just restarted Firefox to be sure.

Could you check whether you have the extension installed here:

Note: I have the non-subscription licensed version of Acrobat DC sold as Acrobat 2017, so your program folder name will vary from mine.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 2017\Acrobat\Browser

You should see a folder named WCFirefoxExtn that has yesterday's or today's date.

The Acrobat installer adds registry keys advertising this extension to Firefox:

  • For 32-bit Firefox: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions
  • For 64-bit Firefox: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions

In both cases, you should have the following, with your specific product folder path

[email protected] = C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 2017\Acrobat\Browser\WCFirefoxExtn\WebExtn\signed_extn\adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi

When Firefox starts up, or at certain intervals, it should scan the registry and find the extension. At that point, it may display a notification such as an exclamation point on the menu button (that's what I saw, white ! on yellow square), or you should find it somewhere on the Add-ons page, perhaps at the bottom of the Extensions list.

If Firefox is not finding the extension, hmm, I'm not sure what would cause that.

Hi. Just checked and I don't have that "WCFirefoxExtn" all I have is the Chrome one (WCChromeExtn). Any ideas how I can get that folder?

I don't have the subscription Adobe either just the reader but it's called Acrobat Reader DC.

Here's something interesting. I just tried to re-download the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC again and on the last screen before the "install now" button there is a checkbox for "Install the Acrobat Reader Chrome Extension" but nothing for Firefox...

Usually Reader does not include the Create PDF extension, only the paid versions of Acrobat (Standard, Professional).

I don't know if that's the Create PDF add-on. Maybe try it?

That's the Create PDF add-on for Chrome. I know it works in Chrome as I was using Chrome exclusively until Firefox Quantum was released.

I can't explain why Adobe would give away its Chrome extension and not its Firefox extension. ??!!

Thanks all.

Anyone know if there is a Firefox approved add-on for this? Or does anyone have a recommendation?

There are so many PDF converter add-ons. I posted a brief survey about a month ago. It might be outdated already...
