The browser does not want to play or even show flash files. It is like tap-to-play, but without the 'tap' option or plug-in icon, its just gray. Flash on the tablet works fine, its just Firefox. Tried to reload a saved .swf from storage in Firefox - just the gray screen again. Reinstall would 'fix' this, but all bookmarks, data, history would be gone...no 'big' PC to sync. Thanks for time & help in advance

Hi Kitsune,

It sounds like you might not have the newest version of Flash installed. Firefox will stop some older versions of Flash from running in order to protect your security.

Installing the latest version of Flash should fix it, without affecting your history, bookmarks or saved passwords.

To install the latest version of flash:

  1. Go to this page on the Adobe website: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
  2. About three quarters on the way down the page is a section titled Flash Player for Android 4.0 archives
  3. Tap the first link in that list to download Flash 11.1.115.81
  4. Once the download is completed, install Flash by swiping down from the top of your screen to show your notifications. Tap the Download Complete notification to start the installation.
  5. When the installation is finished, quit Firefox and then relaunch it.
  6. Enjoy your newly-working Flash! :D

I hope this helps. Reply to let us know if the problem is fixed!

Not sure if the Flash version on blocklist is for Android Firefox also https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/blocked/

Unfortunately there is no updated Flash player from Adobe as they stopped supporting Flash 11.1 for Android (and Playbook back) in Sept 2013 with 11.1.115.81 being the last for Android 4.0

If so, is there a way around the blocklist?

Kitsune-Bi: Thanks for the effort, but checking the flash version was the first I did. :) And yup, I have the last version...

Kitsune-Bi: NO blocked or problematik add-on or what-not installed, Firefox latest version for android installed (not that there would be much of a choice with "automatic" update :)) Also, the same Firefox works great on other "weaker" device, so something or someone (Me :D) just "broke" THE Firefox installed on my tablet. No general issue, otherwise I would not ask here...
