how do i restore my custom new tab addon to its default settings ?
Hi. 3 days ago when i clicked my newtab + the tabs were all nicely arranged, and i could edit, and add ,and pin a tab with whatever site i wanted to.The new pin would also be able to be moved up or down on the new tab page.A couple days ago i decided to click the gear looking icon on the upper right of the new tab page, and selected the option to show 2 rows.Since doing that i cannot get it back to the way it was in the beginning...the way i liked it.Now all i have the option to do is removeor go to a pin,and i cannot add any new pins with new sites,so i cannot choose to add my favorite pins/sites. How can i get this back to the way it was originally? I,m using Mozilla Firefox Quantum version 59.0.2 64 bit. Thankyou.

Hi, you are not yet clear enough in your information as you have not named the add-on there are several new tab would it be New Tab Overide ? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/ If so they the Developer have a Support Site listed in the above URL. Mozilla only ok's Extensions submitted by Developers to be used with Firefox. They ok them only and give the Developer a web page to distribute their Extension from.
Have you gone to the gear icon and reversed what you did ? If seeking more rows you may want to figure out usserChrome 235million ways to customize :

Short of making a new Profile and re-customizing I am not sure so see if the Developer has any answers for you please.

Maybe check the value of this pref on the about:config page.
- browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesCount
If you hover the Top Sites line on the the Activity Stream design versions of the new tab page and the home page then you will notice an Edit button appearing at the right end of the Top Sites line. There is an Edit (pencil) button on each tile in the window that opens to edit this tile. There is an Add button that allows to add a website and enter title and URL.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
These two prefs work for the Activity Stream design, but Firefox will store a calculated total in topSitesCount.
- browser.newtabpage.columns
- browser.newtabpage.rows
Its called New Tab Controls. The name -the correct name of it,escapes me right now,but i,m sure it wasn,t called New Tab Control.I think it was Custom tabs or something very close to that.
I tried the gear icon, and tried undoing it,by checking, and unchecking but its like if you check the 2 rows box once thats it,you cannot reverse it. Another option i had with Custom Tabs was to edit by unpinning, delete from history or remove. If i wanted to add a pin from a site i was on,i would simply copy the link, click edit on any pin.Paste the new link, and i could add my own description, then save it.
Thanks. Would uninstalling Mozilla fix this? If i did uninstal, would i lose all my addons, settings etc?

Probably this one:
- New Tab Tools: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/
Hi. To update... i now have new tab tools ,and custom new tab,and right now new tab tools is enabled, and custom is not.Custom new tabs was the one that was enabled, and the one i was using before i clicked "list 2 rows",and could not get it back to what it was idealy.
I guess i,ll have to uninstal firefox, and get the right tab extension. None of these i want ,but maybe someone else will. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/tabs/
TY.

Hi, unfortunately I think those settings will be in your Profile so uninstalling and reinstalling will not help. You would have to make a new profile and customize again. Best way to uninstall : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's(WIN10) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.3 with a Full Version Installer
New Profile
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
Never work with original files.
