I'm using firefox quantum 5702 on Win, I have it set in the options When Firefox starts to Show a blank page, so I would think when I would open a new tab, that would happen also, but a new tab is anything but blank, it has a search bar, top sites, and Recommended by Pocket. When I navigate to about:blank, I do get a truly blank page, and then when I set about:blank as my "home" page and set the options to go to the "home" page instead, when I open a new tab, it doesn't go to about:blank, it goes to all that other stuff instead. What I want is a new tab to open to a truly blank page.

Firefox has its settings for opening when it starts as defined in its Options/Preferences (which is what you used), but any new tab has its own settings defined by the cogwheel in the top-right of a new tab, where you can remove items as needed.

See the New Tab page in Firefox and Customize your Firefox New Tab page support articles for more info.

That works perfectly, thanks. I didn't know there were separate settings for new tabs.
