Since last firefox update 7 Nov - enter web address - it 'goes to sleep' until I touch the touch pad
I enter a web address and for a couple of seconds the little circle by 'Firefox' spins with 'connecting' - and with 'transferring ...' at bottom left. Okay - fine so far. But then circle stops spinning and nothing happens until I just touch the touch-bar - then it continues. This has only been happening over the last couple of days. Touching the bar seems to wake laptop up. Regards Martin Rookes.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back soon.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
Please report back soon.
Some Firefox 25 users are encountering a problem where the browser just stops doing anything until the mouse is moved again. You may have the same issue, just using a touchpad instead of a mouse.
The best workaround at the moment is rolling back to Firefox 24. There is a link to the old installer in this article: Install an older version of Firefox. To change your update settings so you can defer the reinstallation of Firefox 25, see this article: Advanced panel - Accessibility, browsing, network, updates, and other advanced settings in Firefox.

The developers are trying to track down why some systems exhibit this problem. If you would be willing to provide more information about what Firefox is doing when this problem occurs, by installing a special version of Firefox that logs more data while you browse (a couple of hours probably would be enough), please let us know.
hey, just to keep you updated - there is now a fix available for firefox 25, which should address the particular problem of pages not loading unless the mouse is moved.
if you have downgraded to firefox 24 to work around the issue, please go to firefox > options > advanced > update and turn automatic updates back on. then go to firefox > help > about firefox which should trigger the update to firefox 25.0.1. in case you need to download the setup file for firefox 25.0.1 separately you can do so from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/#firefox

The better download link for Firefox 25.0.1 is at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ versus that channels page mentioned above. Also this will give you the full installer versus the stub installer on Windows.
